Manhattan Loft Design

The balance between aesthetics and practicality is a design challenge for Manhattan apartments that will last forever. When a bachelor financier bought a loft in downtown Manhattan, he asked us to fix that exact situation. Our client does his financial business remotely, so he wanted to turn his dark, cavernous space into a luxurious loft that could serve as a multifunctional space for his girlfriend and dog.

The ability to entertain was a top priority for our customers, so we had to create a cohesive and space-conscious layout between the media corner, dining room and kitchen. To highlight the double high ceilings, we sourced a Lindsey Adelman chandelier. A custom wet bar can serve as either a storage space, a food banquet, or a bar for entertainment. Quests can help themselves to cocktails, and there are two refrigerators: one for wine and one for beer.

The opportunity to rest and relax was important to our customers, so we sourced a large section that was upholstered in a Kravet fabric. Panton Chairs by Design in Reach and a carpet from the collaboration between Tom Dixon and The Rug Company give the living area a masculine, contemporary touch. We finished the chimney with iron and cement to match the main staircase with iron railings.

To create a contemporary feel in the city center, we’re adding an interior window to the master bedroom that increases the sunlight in the bedroom and living room. To create an atmospheric atmosphere in the bedroom, we have chosen a textured, gray wallpaper.

Before, afterwards

In the industrial master bathroom, we’ve replaced the existing bathtub with a larger iron and glass shower with handcrafted white subway tiles. Brass mirrors hang over the new double washbasin, which contains storage space underneath.
