When an Upper East Side family learned that their entire home was going to be seriously renovated, they decided to take the opportunity to redesign the interior of their apartment. They contacted Decor Aid and asked us to convert their space into a cohesive and living space that could fit within the confines of their contract with the landlord.

A new paint job was the first step to breathe new life into this apartment. By choosing a menagerie with neutral tones, we were able to create a calm and peaceful space for this family.

The family hadn’t bought any new furniture since the birth of their children, so we started from scratch with procurement. In the living room, a Room & Board area is framed by tables from Dot & Bo. For a splash of color, we chose a Chartreuse armchair ABC Home.

One of the most important redesign decisions the parents made was changing the bedroom with their growing children. Properly furnishing new bedrooms for the whole family was paramount to the success of this project. By commissioning a tailor-made cupboard that also functions as a media console, we were able to offer an amicable, space-saving solution for the whole family.

Parents knew that having enough storage space would be paramount for their children to get them to put away their toys and clothes. And so we covered bed frames with storage options together with a floating desk that can serve as a bedside table for both beds.

For our customers it was a priority to be able to show off their souvenirs from traveling. And so we’ve added a number of mid-century media units that are chic storage for the whole family.

To add color and texture to the master bedroom, we have chosen a removable model Wallpaper from Tempaper, along with a specially made reclaimed wood.
