When a bachelor financial analyst bought a new apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Gramercy Park, he turned to Decor Aid and commissioned us to create a space that embraced his sophisticated, minimalist sensibilities.

When we got to the apartment, we realized that one of the space’s most enviable features, floor-to-ceiling windows, would also be our biggest design hurdle. Right from the start, we opted for selected down-to-earth pieces of furniture that emphasize the picturesque view of Gramercy Park.

A calm atmosphere was of the utmost importance and so all of our furniture selections had to include organically shaped pieces of furniture. Starting in the living room, we have chosen a flat area that gives the room a relaxed atmosphere without obstructing the view.

A table made from reclaimed wood West Elm was the perfect mix of modern and organic elements. A pair of padded benches allow a seamless flow from the kitchen into the living room and provide additional seating that is ideal for entertaining.

But we didn’t just design for one customer. Panda, a dog, calls this room home too, so we had to choose fabrics that pooches could withstand. With our commitment to sustainable fabrics, our customer let us choose bed linen Boll & Branch and Coyuchi adorn a masculine bed frame by CB2.

Wall lights with gold accents have been installed throughout the apartment, giving the room a calming, dim lighting option. Wooden shelves with built-in fittings were installed above the table, giving our customers the opportunity to display Hasami porcelain clothing.

Final touches include personalized statement pieces from Menu furniture and installed a wireless television.
