If your walls could talk, they would probably say, “Man, I’m bored. And naked. “To curb these division issues, we brought together local designers (e.g. Brooklyn and beyond) who advocated the vertical art of wallpapering. From detailed illustrations (read: exquisite modern work) to sprawling Watercolors, these manufacturers know how they can affect interiors. Check out the list below and let us know who we’ve been missing. Look forward to more wallpapers in the near future.
Flat native marble wallpaper
Flat Vernacular: With one foot in the design world and one foot in the visual arts, Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr strike a fine balance at their Brooklyn-based covering company. They are known for their sticker paper installations (see below) but have made a wide range of more neutral papers. Something for everyone.

Bergdorf Goodman taste paper shop window
Flavor Paper: This is definitely the hippest paperer on the block. This is Mike Dee Brooklyn Toile’s company. We love her. Not just because they make an Andy Warhol license line, and not just because their installations include Bergdorf Goodmans, HBO headquarters, and the Wythe Hotel (with Williamsburg Toile, of course). Not even because the interior designer Lenny Kravitz has at least one house with flavor paper. But none of it hurts. Some of the magic resides in the brain of illustrator Dan Funderburgh who does a lot of the modern day quests like it was his job – ah, he got us there.

Calico: From Decor Arts Now’s report, “While stranded in their Brooklyn attic during the storm, creative and life partners Rachel Mosler and Nick Cope came up with the idea of making marble wallpapers out of gilded metallics and paint.” The techniques they use make the largest marble wallpaper are called Suminagashi, a Japanese water-based ink process from the 12th century, and Ebru (Turkish for water painting).
