Rustic Refined Home Design

Our clients, two website developers who commute from New Jersey to New York, initially commissioned Decor Aid to redesign the backyard. Together with their dog Francis, they wanted a backyard where they could relax after work, grow vegetables, and have weekend get-togethers.

Wooden walls and floors dominated the outside area, so we bought a metal fireplace and a canvas tarpaulin. Some easy-care garden furniture and metallic accents rounded off the space and turned it into New Jersey’s best backyard.

Our clients had hired another interior design company to renovate the interior, but when they saw what we were doing to the backyard, Ryan and Michael asked us to renovate their entire apartment. Renovating the kitchen and bathroom was high on their list, but they also asked us to make a wood-paneled bar for the foyer in addition to designing the bedroom and living room.

In creating a space that blends seamlessly with their neighborhood, we have created a space with wood details and rustic furniture offset by a contrasting neutral scheme. To create a continuum throughout the room, we gave the bathroom a lighter wooden floor.
