Kitchen Essentials

Choosing the most important kitchen utensils may sound more difficult than it actually is at first. And since almost every kitchen item is classified as indispensable and there are more brands available than you can name and support according to the recommendations of celebrity chefs and cooking shows, how can you even know what is really a must? ? To help you, we have hired our decorators to prepare their kitchen utensils for your home.

Chef’s knife

Trying to prepare food without a good quality chef’s knife is difficult. Chopping up and slicing is much easier with a good quality knife, and you will be surprised how much more efficient it is to prepare food with one of these knives in your kitchen.

They stay sharper longer and so much can be done with them. They are real workhorses, surprisingly flexible and will last a lifetime.

Knife steel

If you want to invest in a high quality chef’s knife, you will need a knife steel to sharpen it. Keeping the knife sharp is the best way to extend its life and have it chopping well. Investing in good quality steel will make it easier to sharpen your knife and not ruin it.

Small paring knife

A small paring knife can do everything that a larger chef’s knife cannot. They are great for peeling vegetables, slicing softer fruits and vegetables, and better for more complicated jobs. You’d get lost in your kitchen without one – one of the most important little kitchen utensils.

Bread knife

There is no other way to simply slice bread than with a bread knife, which makes it another must-have item in your kitchen utensils. Bread knives with thin blades are best for a loaf of bread and are easier to use than heavier knives with thicker blades.

Pivoting peeler

Pivoting peelers make peeling so much easier and less clumsy – they save time and are easy to use and get to know. If you’ve used an old-fashioned peeler, a rotating peeler is a revelation and definitely one of the more modern items for the kitchen.

Potato masher

A good potato masher can be hard to come by; You will be surprised how much they differ in quality. You want a sturdy masher that will make your mashed potatoes easy.

Whisk

Every list of kitchen utensils needs a whisk – a rubber-handled balloon whisk is perfect for whisk needs. They’re comfortable to hold and make making sauces and dressings easier in ways a fork can’t, and you can easily conjure up desserts.

Pliers

A pair of pliers is a lifesaver when it comes to the essentials for the kitchen. Gone are the days when things were turned over with a fork. Invest in silicone tongs so you can use them with non-stick trays and pans. Tongs are also perfect for serving spaghetti when you don’t have a spaghetti server.

Plastic turner

Metal spatulas may look great and go wonderfully with the rest of your set, but a plastic spatula really comes into its own as one of your most important items for the kitchen. They can be used on nonstick pans and are also more flexible than their metal counterparts.

Silicon spatula

Silicone spatulas are perfect for stirring and scraping the sides of bowls and containers. They waste less food, are easy to clean, and are perfect for all pots, pans and bowls. They’re also more hygienic than wooden spoons.

dulcimer

Chopping everything on a work surface isn’t always practical or hygienic. Cutting boards are easy to keep clean and protect your surface from damage and stains. Plus, you can flip them over for a neat cut surface while you work and prepare food in the kitchen – an obvious addition to your kitchen utensil kit.

tin opener

A good can opener will last a lifetime, but finding a decent one can be difficult. Take the time to look at the reviews before buying one as they vary greatly in effectiveness and quality – the most expensive is not always the best.

Invest in a can opener that also comes with a jar opener so you don’t have to struggle. A good can opener should be high on your list of essential kitchen utensils.

measuring cup

Measuring cups should be part of your kitchen utensils as cup measures are used in many recipes and can be useful for scooping up all sorts of things. If you don’t have a lot of space in your kitchen, measure cups that are stacked on top of each other to save space.

Measuring spoon

A set of measuring spoons comes into its own as part of your kitchen utensils. Choose a set of at least 4 spoons (from ΒΌ teaspoon to one tablespoon) as you will use these all the time while cooking.

measuring cup

A glass measuring cup with both imperial and metric measurements is a must have on your list of essentials. They also don’t cost much, so they are both useful and cheap kitchen utensils.

Kitchen scales

Traditional kitchen scales are a fail-safe option. It can be tempting to go for high-tech electronic versions of these kitchen utensils. However, if you want your scale to last a lifetime, a traditional kitchen scale is perfect.

There are no batteries to replace, and there are no electronic parts and digital displays to go wrong.

Glass mixing bowls

A set of glass mixing bowls (we would recommend at least 3) are definitely a must for a kitchen. Having multiple mixing bowls is very convenient – you will be surprised how often you need more than one.

They stack neatly to save space and glass is perfect for microwaving while also ensuring that the contents of your bowl are well mixed.

Sieve

A good sieve can be used to sift flour and can be used in place of a sieve to drain vegetables. Choose a well-made, medium-sized mesh strainer to get the most out of it (this is one of those cheap kitchen utensils that you will be using a lot more often than you think).

Rub

A good grater makes a big difference in your kitchen utensils. You want a sturdy grater with at least 4 different grid options, and classic ones are the best.

scissors

Kitchen scissors are stronger than scissors and will help you save time in the kitchen. They are also a flexible tool. You can use them for cutting meat, herbs, and chopping the stems of flowers – good scissors will bring you a lot of benefits. However, good scissors come at a price. So be aware that they are not cheap kitchen utensils.

Baking trays

Baking trays should be part of your kitchen accessories. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on baking trays, but a set of 3 non-stick baking trays of different sizes is sure to look you right.
