Here at Décor Aid we are thrilled and honored to be among the top design firms in the country selected to create a space vignette for Design on a Dime, a perk for Housing Works in New York. The vignettes feature new furniture, artwork and accessories, all of which have been donated and will then be offered for sale on two public shopping days.
Our generous and valued sponsors include Pierre Frey, Promemoria, Avery Boardman / Carlyle, Sony, Stark, Phillip Jeffries, Morgan Clayhall, Edition Modern, Cocobolo Design, Tappan, Kandelaber, Snowe, Bungalow 5, Sage by Hughes, Owen & Fred, LexMod, Hayward, Design Menagerie, Lenox, Photos.com, The Monacelli Press, Dave Morris Construction and artists like Benjamin Russell. ELLE DECOR, one of the event sponsors, has called it an “unmatched shopping opportunity”.
The event begins with the VIP opening reception on Thursday, April 21, at which guests will receive a special preview of the vignettes and an exclusive shopping opportunity. The design on the founding chair of a Dime is James Huniford, and this year’s co-chairs are ELLE DECOR editor-in-chief Michael Boodro, actress Marisa Tomei, interior designers Alessandra Branca and Nicole Gibbons, and George Oliphant, presenter of “George to the Rescue”.
Proceeds from the sale will go to Housing Works’ Hull Street Residence, a housing project for 28 single, formerly homeless adults living with HIV / AIDS.
