What are some tips for parents who want to decorate their nursery but don’t need to redecorate a few years later for a less babyish look?

Yes, a nursery should be calming, comfortable, and perform some basic functions for your baby. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate a few more sophisticated design elements. Go for a classic polka dot or a subtle stripe instead of wallcovering covered in bunnies and chicks. Classic, timeless elements won’t date the room as your child grows. When buying a cot, safety comes first, followed by flexibility. Most manufacturers now offer toddler slides and bed conversion kits that allow you to easily convert your furniture. For your changing table, either invest in a tray that you can use for an existing dresser, or make sure that the tray on your changing table is removable so the dresser can grow with your child.
