Interview With Dockatot

Take a design-minded mom with a baby who needs sleep and you’re sure to find some creative solutions. In the case of Lisa Furuland, this led to DockATot, a soft, cozy “dock” for babies and toddlers to sleep, play and cuddle with. If the name makes you wonder it’s because Lisa and her family live in a small coastal town in Sweden where docks are considered safe havens. So she wanted the docks she designed to serve a similar purpose for other parents and their children.

We spoke to Lisa to learn more about how she created DockATot and to find out some of her other must-have products for new parents.

You said that when your son Ilias was born you tried unsuccessfully to find an alternative to a blanket, cot and cot. What kind of functionality were you looking for that these products were missing?

I was looking for a multifunctional sleeping aid that would fit a child well and safely and at the same time comfort them. Something that essentially mimicked the womb. We were (and sometimes still are!) A family sleeping together. I wanted something that would allow us to sleep comfortably and safely with our children. I also wanted this product to multitask so we could use it anytime, anywhere in the house.

How did you develop the design of the DockATot?

I have taken over all of the above functional aspects and combined them with exceptional materials that were sourced from a top supplier.

Have you tested design prototypes with your children?

Yes, and they loved it – that’s how I knew I was into something!

What’s your favorite DockATot fabric swatch?

I am in love Dream weaver–It’s gender neutral and still incredibly chic.

It looks like you have a lot of celebrity fans! How does it feel to have designed a product that deserves so much praise?

It feels incredibly rewarding, to say the least. My mission has always been to help Parents – whether celebrities or other parents looking for the best for them Familys. Sleep is so important in our lives and getting enough rest is critical to our health. My goal with DockATot is to enable newborns to sleep well.

Besides DockATot, do you also have product suggestions for new parents?

Ergobaby Carrier, Covered goods Care blankets, Finn & Emma Muslin blankets and wooden teething rings, Milestone’s Original Baby Cards, UPPA baby Strollers and Freshly picked Moccasins.
