When you grow up outside of NYC, where up is up and left, the walls are usually white. However, anything and everything goes within the city. The interior design community saw lots of deep colored walls this summer and we think they are perfect for fall. Color is one of the most transformative and affordable interior design moves that you can make in your space. At Decor Aid we hug dark walls for fall (as you’ll see in our new office – stay tuned) so we can hibernate and work in peace. A black wall is not a bleak feeling, as one might think, but a cozy, grotto-like aura. Explore the images we’ve collected and, as always, let us know if we missed any gems inside.

Black bathroom walls
We love the intimate feel of this bathroom, where dark paint on the top half of the wall offsets the bright white tiles. Choose a dark tub that suits an expert move. See more of Amanda’s slate bath on Apartment Therapy.
Black walls in the living room
The living room of the lifestyle and fashion photographer exceeds the level of sophistication we had hoped for – this picture is being re-presented (original IG article here) because it is so impressive. Image via Graham Atkins Hughes.
Black glass shower doors
A black wall in the bathroom paired with black glass doors contrasts nicely with the subway tiles in the shower. The bathroom is part of Jenny Wolf’s project in Traditional Home. See everything here.
Dark walls in the bedroom

Dark walls in the nursery
Apphia Michael (from Wallpaper * and La Petite Mag) designed her daughter Tallis’ room in a gender-neutral Nordic minimalist style. As adults, we would take the scheme too! More pictures on La Petite Mag.

This beautiful bedroom was designed as part of the Holiday Hamptons House and is definitely a dream.
