Layer Your Lighting

While people tend to focus more on physical objects when decorating their homes, one of the most important aspects of any interior design scheme is intangible: light. Furniture and art can add comfort and personality to a room, but smartly placed lighting can be transformative, setting a mood, creating depth and dividing a room.

“When you decorate a room,” our designers note, “layer your lighting.” Think of all of the overhead lighting, then architectural lighting (under kitchen cabinets and above artwork), and then table and floor lamps, depending on what the space needs. Much like attaching 3D glasses over your interior design, adding an intentional lighting plan will add new dimensions to your space and open up a world of possibilities.
