The appeal of Greenwich, Connecticut is obvious. The city is charming, rural and quaint, just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of New York City. Our customers, a family whose parents work in Manhattan, wanted to turn a suburban colonial style – which certainly needs an update – into a comfortable, functional family home. A combination of rural and contemporary design is emphasized by natural wood structures and concrete.

We first remodeled the kitchen, dug up the room and replaced a solid wall with windows. Quartz worktops, a duo of ball lights and a glass dining table ensure that the room feels light and airy. The space is bright and functional, with a kitchen that both looks great and can serve as a space for the master chefs. To incorporate some local elements, horse art has been added to a reclaimed wooden wall.

With a living room connected to the kitchen and dining area, a combination of blue, white and wood accents was made. A dazzling white fabric sectional sofa frames a converted fireplace, creating an area that everyone can hang out as a family.

A gold leaf ceiling in the reading nook was inspired by a Paris hotel, complemented by more subtle gray walls and a cloud-colored silk carpet. Custom built-in shelves allow the family to display their decorative wares.
